Founder of The Mindful Moment, Dr. Alexandra Domelle shares how letting go of your Past makes you lighter, happier and healthier

"As you let go, as you make room for new, you allow in Love, you allow in Light, you allow in Truth." - Alexandra Domelle

Your past is what has already happened.

Yet how many of you still carry it around in the present, with the intention of taking it into the future?

Your past is what has already happened.

It contains your memories, events and situations. It comprises your relationships, expectations and experiences. It carries your dreams, feelings and emotions.

This is a lot of weight to carry. #LetGo

Your past is what has already happened.

When you carry your past around in the present, you keep reliving the old times. You miss out on living in the now.

You miss out on present memories, events and situations. You miss out on present relationships, expectations and experiences. You miss out on present dreams, feelings and emotions.

That’s a lot you are missing out on. #BeHereNow

Your past is what has already happened.

Haven’t you carried it around long enough?

Your past doesn’t define you.

Every moment offers you the opportunity to create new experiences, new memories and new dreams.

This is what it means to live.

This is what it means to honour the life you have been given. #AuthenticLiving

Your past is what has already happened.

Do you use it as a checklist to compare your suffering to others?

Do you use it to compare who suffered the most?

Do you use it to judge your worthiness when your suffering has been greater?

Your past is what has already happened.

Each moment in your past held a #LifeLesson.

Have you learnt the life lesson you were given?

Or do you need to be reminded of it over and over again?

When you have learnt the life lesson, whatever happened in your past has served its purpose. You may question why you had to learn that particular life lesson.

Every life lesson has a purpose.

Just because you can’t immediately see it, doesn’t mean it’s invalid.

And what about the suffering, you ask.

Why did you have to suffer so much?

In fact, why did you have to suffer at all?

Truth is, if you didn’t experience suffering, how would you know #peace?

If you didn’t experience sadness, how would you know #joy?

If you didn’t experience hatred, how would you know #love?

Your Past is what has already happened.

The suffering that you experienced had a beginning and has an end.

Yet how many of you continue to suffer because you are still holding onto it?

It is time.

Time to #LetGo.

Let go of your Past.

Letting go of your past doesn’t mean you are dishonouring your memories.

Letting go of your past doesn’t mean you are being untruthful.

Letting go of your past doesn’t mean you’ve forgotten.

Letting go means acknowledging the things that happened and learning the life lessons you’ve been given.

Letting go means accepting that although you may not know why you had to learn those life lessons, the reasons themselves don’t really matter.

What matters is that now you are free.

Free to Live.

Free to Dream.

Free to Love.

Letting go means Living in the Now. #PresentMomentReminder

In the present.

In this moment.

Letting go means looking beyond your life situation to those around you.

While you were so busy living in the past, what’s been happening around you?

What’s been happening in your current relationships?

What’s been happening with the people you love?

What’s been happening in the present?

Make your self a promise to live #InTheNow.

Your past is what has already happened.

The future has not yet arrived.

The present is what matters.

Now.
